Your first child (theme)
Themes are fundamental to a WordPress site. But, they usually require some customization to get them to look as you want them to. In this presentation I show you how to properly customize a WordPress theme using Child Themes so that you can safely make changes to a theme without modifying the author’s code.
I originally gave this presentation at WordCamp Seattle 2015: Beginner Edition on 24 October 2015. I was unhappy with the way that the presentation came out using Slides.com’s interface, so I rebuilt the deck as a regular presentation using LibreOffice. The original presentation slides are still available.
